HistorySon Boronat itself is a remarkable example of Mallorquian rustic architecture. At the end of the
14th century, a tower was built to ward off attacks by pirates. Around a central courtyard, several buildings were constructed, a house for the landowner, quarters for guests and servants, barns, stables, an olive-press
and a chapel. In 2006 the chapel, original paintings and artefacts were restored. |

The area surrounding Son Boronat has a considerable history. As early as 1000 BC, in the late Bronze Age,
funerals took place in the nearby caves. The dead was buried in wooden coffins along with jewelry and other items centuries later. The estate utilized its natural resources to build a large irrigation system. Wells were
constructed in the Moorish tradition. The complex covers an area of about 2000m2 of property and stands in its own grounds of 17 acres of land. It boasts a variety of features strongly traditional in character,
including porches, chimney, benches of stone and timber. Since 1907, exotic fruit fruits and vegetables have been grown in the picturesque gardens. |
